Sr. Business Systems Analyst

iPayment, Inc. is a trusted provider of credit and debit card payment processing services to small merchants across the United States. Our payment processing services enable our merchants to accept credit cards as well as other forms of payment, including debit cards, checks, gift cards and loyalty programs in traditional card-present, or swipe transactions, as well as card-not-present transactions, such as those done over the phone or through the internet.

Position Summary:

The Sr. Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works closely with stakeholders and business subject matter experts to create and refine user stories and acceptance criteria for iPayment’s custom applications. The BSA plays a critical role in determining what the organization needs regarding specific products and helps to define any problems being addressed in order to create the solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage product backlog for multiple products developed by iPayment
  • Triage incoming requests from Jira for a single product, escalating as needed
  • Communicate and follow through with appropriate business units as required
  • Document business processes and workflows (human or digital)
  • Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies: backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, etc.
  • Understand iPayment data models to assist in mapping data between internal and third party systems
  • Write SQL queries and generate reports to help make data-driven decisions
  • Develop business cases to help prioritize roadmap features

  • Strong understanding of basic modeling techniques and methods
  • Technical and non-technical author for engineers, management, and end-users in concise, audience-specific language
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to organization’s changing needs
  • Expert-level knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Agile methodologies
  • Understanding of web application development
  • Ability to write user stories that capture the problem being solved for the business
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Enjoy working in a small team environment
  • Ability to use seasoned judgment to suggest approaches that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities
  • Strong understanding of Excel

Experience and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a business analyst or product owner
  • Experience working on small technical teams using Scrum
  • Experience in the financial or payments industry a plus
  • Scrum certifications a plus
